A long 5 minute video apology from the girl that went missing from Shambala. She was found a week or so later, living feral in the woods near Nelway (the border), a classic example of somebody who took too much and never got home...
The video, not obligatory but welcome I'm sure, it took some courage even though clearly she - while "home" and safe - has not yet recovered her peace of mind.
It reminds me of the less fortunate guy that went missing from Shambala a few years ago, last spotted running through yards in Salmo, somewhere now picked clean in the woods.
A reminder to not lose your crew until you get to the relative safety of your home, although where home is will vary with your state of mind.
At the old restaurant, the "Cock 'n' Suck" we'd get these people for weeks after Shambala, parked in a decrepit broken down car in our lot or on the Ferry Landing, just working things out, coming in for food they couldn't pay for, trying to get something done if only they could sustain the thought of what...
Ideas on Property vs Stewardship

Now you see this everywhere out here, people with a few extra acres, on to which they store their used car collection, their bottles, cans, chemicals and pesticides, plastic tarps, tires, etc, etc, and this is largely regarded as a right of ownership. There are often community guidelines regarding the upkeep of property, but in rural areas they're seldom enforced.
This of course is bananas. Cars leak antifreeze, wiper fluid, oil, gas, transmission fluids, plastics break down, all these things saturate the soil and make the property poisonous to future generations. Examples of this are too numerous to list. While corporations are notorious for this approach to the environment, a short drive on the back-roads of Alberta or BC should be enough to inform you that a good many individuals are no better.
There is something inherently wrong with property as "Ownership". Property should be better regarded as "Stewardship", that you have an obligation to upkeep and maintain your property in an environmentally responsible way. You should be required to pay a deposit on any future remediations that need to be done. No further property can be acquired or sold until the property you've tenanted is remediated to the condition you acquired it, and the price paid to acquire it should reflect your track record of looking after things.
Take this one step further and remove ownership entirely. All property is that of the "Crown" - and it to be sold/returned to the crown when the tenant is done.
Property is an obligation, not a right, and one's ability to "own" is contingent on ones ability to look after the property. Similar arguments could and should be made for Pets and Children, but that's a separate diatribe...
Back Pain

And I have absolutely no idea what I've done - last week, my lower left back, then it got better and then started up in my lower right back. Making getting in and out of chairs absolute hell - once standing I'm fine, but getting to standing...
Anyways, it will pass, just an odd thing as that's never been a problem, and I've not been doing any heavy lifting, so whatever it is that's causing this...

Selling off, camera gone, cufflinks gone, Navaho Bracelet, sold, electric acupuncture needle, gone, (to a chiropractor, of course, who pays me in quarters), a big bag of books, gone.
Now I have a lot of this quack medical shit, a surprising amount of it contemporary. The electric acupuncture needle, for instance, and another piece which has garnered a lot of attention - Peter Mandel's Crystal Light Therapy kit, which I could have sold 3 times over but unfortunately the batteries leaked and are cemented in the flashlight portion of the kit.
This is very annoying. The kit, a bunch of covered lenses, sells for over a thousand new. Well over. And it's really just a flashlight, only I need to clean the batteries out of the flashlight and get it saleable. 1 day it took to get the end off, soaking the rest in Vinegar & WD-40, I might have to fix something up with a mag-light.
Now while clearly I have a taste for some of this stuff, clearly, time for it to go - the Violet ray, too cool to let that go (But I haven't yet found it in the locker); it's time for me to come up with my own bullshit quack medical device...
And the enquiries have dropped off so I need to go to the locker, find some boxes and get more stuff listed, only my place is full and the books can only be disposed of in a trickle, 2, 3 bags a week, the apartment is full of them, no room to turn around, and there's still more in the locker and my goal to "clear the kitchen counter" - itself a reasonable chore made daunting by the sheer amount of garbage I have...
