It's funny, watch the video and see how he avoids taking any consequence for the actions of the bank, and always, always, the bank rewards it's own. You rob a bank, you go to jail. Bank robs you, they take your money and the whole judicial process helps them to get away scott-free...
Senator Elizabeth Warren does an excellent job of bringing common sense to bear on what is becoming an increasingly common trend towards unabashed greed and criminal behavior without fear of reprisal or consequence. We don't need hearings, we need a farmer. Every farmer knows when the pigs get fat you kill them. And it appears they're so fat now they can't move from the trough.

I find the moment to tell the owner I'm leaving. Moving to BC. Not an easy thing, overdue, well overdue, life should move on and I've been stale here a while, my corpse stinking up the restaurant.
I'm nervous, of course, it's been 20 years, more, here in Calgary. Kids, work, obligations. But I give up. Finding the work-life balance here, it's impossible. Especially now. Always, as long as I've worked here, but even now more than ever. Time to leave. Nelson, well, not so sure. There are jobs, if you're willing to work there's always jobs, and you begin again to climb the ladder, I only want the struggle to be 8 or 10 hours per day, 4 days per week. A little more time for me and my devices. Who knows? They might pay off yet...
...and I'm closer to a lot of things...
Worried, of course, about finances, bills to be paid, accommodation, work, there's things to be worried about for sure. It's no picnic...but I dispel the clouds overhead with my sunny thoughts that life is an adventure...and, regardless, I'm due. I'm due.
He takes it well. Disappointed, but I think he knew it was coming. Maybe the nephew, maybe the abstracted way I went days without speaking. I've got nothing to say. I'm overdue. Time to go. And, the word is spoken, the countdown starts...

Video of Police plotting charges against a protester who was filming them. After confiscating his camera, they left it on while they discussed how to invent charges.

Oh, and almost forgot, police shoot and kill another unarmed black man in Oklahoma...
Completely caught on video, his arms were up, tasered and then shot. They were called because his car was stalled and he needed assistance. Very sporting. If you were Black in America can you even imagine the instance you would call the police? Only if you were waiting for them with a sawed off shotgun...
Short Days

The days grow shorter. There's lots to do, people to meet, coffee, wine, it's late when I finally get out of Calgary...
But it's worth it. No panning, merely surface collecting, assessing prospects, appreciating the harvest and colors of the season...
A few pictures...

Rainbow, after a brief summer rain...

Pebbles on sand...
\
Stones becoming hoodoos. Small hoodoos, but you get the idea...

Thinking I'd found diamonds or gems, broken glass from the telegraph/telephone insulators. Old. Everywhere. Deep blue, light blue, clear, green...sunken into the sand....

And the Halloween bit, the rib cage of roadkill and a collapsed hoodoo....macabre, but there's an aesthetic there for sure...
Next week, up earlier, leave in the morning, no compromising the day, get it done...the days grow shorter, 7:00 PM and it was too dark to search, 8:00 PM and it was night, next week, up at 6:00, panning by 7:30, the whole day to move a few yards, see what results...
